Join Us for Our 2021 Winter/Spring 5K Run/Walk Series!

Building off our inaugural 2020 races, Cairn University Athletics and RUN 12:1 Running Club are excited to bring you a series of Winter/Spring 2021 5K races. The fourth race in the series is the Cairn Cares 5K. The Cairn Cares 5K is a collaborative event between Cairn University, ChoiceOne, AlphaCare and RUN 12:1 Running Club raising money for the New Horizon Scholarship Fund at Cairn University. New Horizons is an initiative to provide support to new mothers served by these crisis pregnancy resource centers, who chose to give birth, even though their educational and career goals would be interrupted by the unplanned pregnancy, delivery and parenthood. The New Horizons program provides these mothers with academic support, and a nurturing Christian community as they seek to renew and/or begin their pursuit of undergraduate education.   

The Cairn Cares 5K is a paved, road race on the Cairn University campus and surrounding neighborhood streets. There is also a family friendly 1-mile fun run/walk option and a virtual option for those who prefer. You can participate at the 5K or 1-mile event in Langhorne, PA on Saturday, April 24th, or participate virtually from anywhere in the world during the weekend of Thursday, April 22nd - Sunday, April 25th. 

To maintain proper social distancing and safety for everyone, registration for the on-site Cairn Cares event is limited to 200 participants. As guidelines and restrictions change over time, the number of participants per race may be capped at a higher or lower number depending on the current conditions. There is also a virtual run for those who prefer that option. 

All registrants will receive a unique, custom designed shirt for each race, and those completing multiple races will be entered to win awards in the Winter/Spring Race Series. In addition, everyone completing 3 or more races in the series will also receive an additional Race Series shirt. 

Please note: the COVID-19 pandemic is a fluid situation and should guidelines change, it is possible Cairn University, the local Health Department and/or State of Pennsylvania may require the live events be converted to a virtual-only event. Should that occur the Virtual Challenge will still be held and all registrants for the Cairn Cares events will be converted to the Virtual Challenge format. Other options may also be offered. No refunds will be issued.

Terms & Agreements

By indicating your acceptance, you understand, agree, warrant and covenant as follows:

I know that preparing for and running or walking in this event is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter and participate unless I am medically able. I further realize additional risks associated with preparing for and participating in this event including, but not limited to, falls, contact with other participants, contact with vehicles on roadways, contact with bystanders viewing the event, the affects of the weather and the condition of all surfaces, all such risks being known and appreciated by me.

I further confirm and acknowledge that I have read all Cairn Cares events covid-19 special race rules and agree to abide by all such rules, as well as the current rules and guidelines in affect by the State of Pennsylvania, local Department of Health, and any other governmental body with jurisdiction over the area and/or event. I will not participate if I have been diagnosed with a current covid-19 infection, have a fever or any other covid-19 like conditions, or have been in contact with anyone with covid-19 in the past 14 days. The safety and well being of the entire community is of utmost priority, and this includes all participants, staff and volunteers. I further recognize that Bucks County Department of Health, Cairn University, Virtual Charity Events, and the Cairn Winter/Spring Race Series race committee cannot make any claim and does not have any ability to contain or prevent the spread of the covid-19 virus or any other pathogen. Those who have concerns, fears, or at high risk for contracting covid-19 should not run in any Cairn Winter/Spring Race Series event but rather opt to participate in the Virtual Challenge. I further recognize and agree that the covid-19 pandemic is a fluid situation and should guidelines change, it is possible Cairn University, the local Health Department and/or State of Pennsylvania may require the live 5K event be converted to a virtual-only event. Should that occur I know and agree that all registrants for the Cairn Cares event will be converted to the Virtual Challenge format. Other options may also be offered. I know and accept that NO REFUNDS will be issued.

Knowing these facts I, the undersigned, intending to be legally bound for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, covenant not to sue and hereby waive and release any and all rights and claims or liability for death, personal injury, sickness (including covid-19) or property damage of any kind of nature what so ever that I may now or hereafter have against Cairn University, A;phaCare, ChoiceOne, The Cairn Winter/Spring Race Series committee, Virtual Charity Events,RUN 12:1 Running Club, the sponsors, their representatives, successors, or assignees for my preparation, attendance and/or participation in this activity. I certify that I am in physical condition for this event and assume all responsibility for my participation.

I further grant permission for the use of my name and/or picture/video in any newspaper, broadcast or other account of this event without further compensation.

If registering a child under the age of 18 or an incapacitated adult I represent and warrant that I am the parent or legal guardian of that party and have the legal authority to enter into this agreement on their behalf and by proceeding with this event registration, I agree that the terms of this Terms & Agreements shall apply equally to all Registered Parties.
