We are excited to announce Race #2 in the Cairn 5K Run/Walk series!

Cairn University Athletics and RUN 12:1 Running Club are excited to bring you a series of Winter/Spring 2021 5K races. Race #2 is the Rock Your Socks 3.21 mile run/walk for Down Syndrome. World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is celebrated every year on March 21st (3/21) because people with down syndrome are born with 3 copies of the 21st chromosome. Because crazy socks are a symbol of WDSD we ask everyone to wear the craziest pair (or miss-matched pair) of socks they can during the race (and all day/weekend long) to help raise awareness of down syndrome.

Rock Your Socks will be held on Saturday, March 20th (the Saturday closest to WDSD). The format is a road course being held at Cairn University, Langhorne, PA. In honor of WDSD, the mileage will be a little longer than your typical 5K (3.1 miles), this race will be 3.21 miles- so you are practically guaranteed a personal best for that distance. There will also be a shorter (and easier) 1 mile fun run/walk course for those who prefer. Both options are family friendly and stroller friendly. There is also a virtual option for those who prefer or are unable to join us in person on March 20th.

In addition to our typical race awards, there will also be some special prizes for those with the craziest socks at the live event (as selected by our judges). So get your family, friends and relatives together, and the craziest socks you can find, and join us for Rock Your Socks 2021 supporting a great cause. Note: The funds raised will go toward a Social Worker scholarship for a student planning to work with down syndrome individuals and towards Cairn Athletics.

We are working with authorities and a committee of race experts to organize this event. Be assured our highest priority is the health and safety of all our participants, volunteers, and staff. To maintain proper social distancing and safety for everyone, registration for the on-site Rock Your Socks race on March 20th is limited to 200 participants. There is also a virtual run for those who prefer that option. All registrants will receive this unique, really cool looking, custom designed Rock Your Socks shirt, and those completing 3 or more races in the race series will receive an additional race series race shirt and be eligible to earn race series points and awards. 

Please note: the COVID-19 pandemic is a fluid situation and should guidelines change, it is possible the Bucks County Health Department and/or State of Pennsylvania may require the live event be converted to a virtual-only event. Should that occur the Virtual Challenge will still be held and all registrants for the Rock Your Socks on-site race will be converted to the Virtual Challenge format. Other options may also be offered. No refunds will be issued.

Terms & Agreements

By indicating your acceptance, you understand, agree, warrant and covenant as follows:

I know that preparing for and running or walking in this event is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter and participate unless I am medically able. I further realize additional risks associated with preparing for and participating in this event including, but not limited to, falls, contact with other participants, contact with vehicles on roadways, contact with bystanders viewing the event, the affects of the weather and the condition of all surfaces, all such risks being known and appreciated by me.

I further confirm and acknowledge that I have read all Autumn 5K covid-19 special race rules and agree to abide by all such rules, as well as the current rules and guidelines in affect by the State of Pennsylvania, Bucks County Department of Health, and any other governmental body with jurisdiction over the area and/or event. I will not participate if I have been diagnosed with a current covid-19 infection, have a fever or any other covid-19 like conditions, or have been in contact with anyone with covid-19 in the past 14 days. The safety and well being of the entire community is of utmost priority, and this includes all participants, staff and volunteers. I further recognize that Tyler State Park, Bucks County Department of Health, Cairn University, Virtual Charity Events, and the Cairn Race Series race committee cannot make any claim and does not have any ability to contain or prevent the spread of the covid-19 virus or any other pathogen. Those who have concerns, fears, or at high risk for contracting covid-19 should not run in any Cairn Race Series event but rather opt to participate in the Virtual Challenge. I further recognize and agree that the covid-19 pandemic is a fluid situation and should guidelines change, it is possible the Bucks County Health Department and/or State of Pennsylvania may require the live 5K event be converted to a virtual-only event. Should that occur I know and agree that all registrants for Rock Your Socks will be converted to the Virtual Challenge format. Other options may also be offered. I know and accept that NO REFUNDS will be issued.

Knowing these facts I, the undersigned, intending to be legally bound for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, covenant not to sue and hereby waive and release any and all rights and claims or liability for death, personal injury, sickness (including covid-19) or property damage of any kind of nature what so ever that I may now or hereafter have against Cairn University, The Cairn Race Series committee, Virtual Charity Events, the sponsors, their representatives, successors, or assignees for my preparation, attendance and/or participation in this activity. I certify that I am in physical condition for this event and assume all responsibility for my participation.

I further grant permission for the use of my name and/or picture/video in any newspaper, broadcast or other account of this event without further compensation.

If registering a child under the age of 18 or an incapacitated adult I represent and warrant that I am the parent or legal guardian of that party and have the legal authority to enter into this agreement on their behalf and by proceeding with this event registration, I agree that the terms of this Terms & Agreements shall apply equally to all Registered Parties.
