Cairn University Athletics and RUN 12:1 Running Club are excited to bring you the Rock Your Socks 3.21 mile run/walk for Down Syndrome awareness and support. World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is celebrated every year on March 21st (3/21) because people with down syndrome are born with 3 copies of the 21st chromosome. Because crazy and colorful socks are a symbol of WDSD we ask everyone to wear the craziest most colorful pair (or miss-matched pair) of socks they can during the race (and all day/weekend long) to help raise awareness of down syndrome.
Rock Your Socks will be held on Saturday, March 26th (the 1st Saturday following WDSD). The format is a road course being held at Cairn University, Langhorne, PA. In honor of WDSD, the mileage will be a little longer than your typical 5K (3.1 miles), this race will be 3.21 miles- so you are practically guaranteed a personal best for that distance.
There will also be a shorter (and easier) 1 mile fun run/walk course for those who prefer. Both options are family friendly, stroller friendly and allow you to run in the craziest socks you own. And kids 5 and under are free! There is also a virtual option for those who prefer or are unable to join us in person on March 26th.
In addition to our typical race awards, there will also be some special prizes for those with the craziest socks at the live event (as selected by our judges). So get your family, friends, classmates and relatives together, and the craziest socks you can find, and join us for Rock Your Socks 2022 supporting a great cause. Note: The funds raised will go toward the Cairn Student Scholarship Fund for a student planning to work with down syndrome individuals and towards Cairn Athletics.
Register by March 1st to guarantee your race shirt and save $5.00 off the $35.00 registration fee.
